Traveling in Tartan

"I'm really stuck on traveling this month for some reason, so for your monthly challenge I am tasking you with designing 4 looks - 2 for an adult and 2 for a child. One look (for each) should be a simple casual day wear and the second a beach look. Your inspiration and mandatory included pattern is Tartan!

Okay, I know tartan isn't JUST used for kilts but I love them and couldn't help it. Now, you don't have to but try to use more then just one pattern."

introducing my mother+child duo. im also experimenting croquis style for challenges, i've noticed that the "winners" usually have full colored croquis, so im trying it out

i love this. words fail me.

tartans used: blue ([link]), red ([link]) , green ([link]) , purple ([link])

details
casual look: mom has hair up in chopsticks, cropped white tee with blue tartan edges, high waisted red tartan capris, black leather sandals; kid has little purple tartan vest, high-low white tee, green tartan leggings, bowed flats

beach look: mom has sheer blue coverup, over strap/cutout bikini (the strap details are green tartan, the bikini is blue tartan); kid is wearing halter neck bathing suit with cut outs; the back portion is red tartan, the main portion is purple tartan; the straps cross over into bow

inspiration/thought process: the casual look I was inspired mainly by styles that use tartan, such as Burberry and McQueen; the beach look, I decided to be inspired by the actual composition of tartan, mimicking the affect using over-lapping strap details

....im never doing a colored croquis ever again. took. me. forever.
